Holiday Sussex

Sussex accommodation varies from exclusive hotels, such as the South Lodge Hotel, just south of Horsham, to friendly bed & breakfasts.

Ethical Travel Directory Responsible Travel (who are also based in Sussex, as it happens) have a number of places for you to stay on their screened & approved listings. You can also find accommodation at farmstays & cottages, including one stay on a 20 acre organically run estate with rare breed sheep producing fleece & other products.  (They also have spinning and felting days, and if you don't feel like doing anything, you can just sit and watch the sheep & nature and feel yourself relax. )  Click here for more info

For those of you who enjoy quaint old buildings, you might love the close access to the town of Steyning which has over 100 listed buildlings, & many timber framed buildings of Tudor & Stuart tradesmen, tea rooms, restaurants, & independent shops.  If you're a keen cyclist or walker or nature lover, then this holiday could be just the thing for you - it even has a strip of ancient woodland. (which has had to be closed off to protect local wildlife).  Get more info on this haven of delight here

The cities of Chichester & Brighton both have lots to offer, and Responsible Travel has listings here too.  There's a B&B in Chichester in  a 17th century chapel & cottage suites, close to Chichester, Pagham Beach & Nature Reserve, and set in large mature gardens & a rural setting.   Or stay in Brighton in a recently refurbished regency townhouse, which offers B & B (the breakfast being a primarily organic serving, rather than your traditional English fry-up, so the healthy way).
